Brush Clearing & Forestry Mulching in Magnolia, TX
Magnolia sits at the western edge of the Texas Pineywoods. Tall loblolly pines and hardwoods are what draw people to acreage off FM 1488, FM 1774 and SH-249. Underneath them, yaupon, briar, privet and young pine fill in every gap until you can't walk your own property. Farmer Brown & Co. is a family land-services and beekeeping business based in Sealy, run by Henry Brown Jr. and Zanaria Brown. We bring high-flow Kubota skid steers to Magnolia, Stagecoach and Pinehurst to clear brush, open up wooded lots and reclaim fence lines. We also relocate live honeybees, place hives for ag valuation, and sell raw local honey.

Brush clearing and forestry mulching for wooded lots
Most Magnolia owners don't want a bare dirt lot. They want to keep the good pines and oaks and get rid of the thicket underneath. That's where a skid steer fits: it's small enough to work between trees on a one- to five-acre homesite and strong enough to grind through dense yaupon. Typical Magnolia projects include:
Underbrush and yaupon removal: opening up the understory under mature pines and hardwoods so the property is walkable, mowable and easier to look after.
Selective forestry mulching: brush and small trees are ground into a mulch layer that stays on the ground, with nothing to burn during a burn ban and nothing to haul down a two-lane road.
Homesite and driveway openings: clearing the area for a future house, shop or barn and the path in from the road, before your builder or dirt contractor takes over.
Fence-line and boundary clearing: reclaiming property lines that have disappeared under vines and brush so you can survey, fence or simply see what you own.
Pasture and ranchette reclaiming: cutting back pasture that has gone to brush and young pine on acreage toward Todd Mission and Plantersville.
Finish work: power raking, grading and gravel spreading for drives and pads once the brush is gone.
If your property has large trees that need felling, or timber thicker than a skid steer should handle, we'll tell you up front and scope it separately. Before you book, check your deed restrictions and any county floodplain or permit rules for your tract. Some Magnolia acreage communities set rules about tree removal and exterior work.
How a Magnolia quote works
Send photos of the brush and stem sizes, the address or nearest crossroads, the approximate acreage, and the finish you want. Live bee removal in Magnolia
Wooded lots mean hollow trees, old sheds and deer stands, and honeybees use all of them. In Magnolia's newer subdivisions, scouts also move into soffits, attic vents and wall cavities. We're beekeepers, not exterminators. When bees move in, we:
look at your photos and tell you whether it's likely a swarm or an established colony,
confirm the entry point, height and building materials,
give you a written scope that lists exactly what's included, and
remove the bees alive and relocate the colony to a managed apiary when conditions allow.
We take swarm calls 7 days a week. Please don't spray the bees or seal the opening before we arrive, and keep kids and pets back. Request bee service →
Hive placement & ag exemption beekeeping in Montgomery County
Many Magnolia landowners sit on 5 to 20 acres, which is exactly the range Texas allows for beekeeping as a qualifying agricultural use under 1-d-1 open-space valuation. Magnolia land is appraised by the Montgomery Central Appraisal District (MCAD) in Conroe, which sets its own intensity standards. Contact MCAD (936-756-3354) for its current beekeeping requirements first, then we'll build a hive placement and management plan for your property and keep dated visit records. The regular filing deadline for Form 50-129 is April 30, and land generally needs qualifying ag use for five of the previous seven years. Only the district decides approval, so we never promise it. Already have backyard or acreage hives? We also offer hive inspections and seasonal management.

Magnolia FAQs
Can you clear the yaupon but keep my pine trees? Yes. Selective clearing is the most common job we're asked to do on wooded Magnolia lots. Mark the trees you want to keep and we'll work around them.
Do I have to haul off or burn the brush? Usually not. With mulching, the brush is ground up and left on the ground as cover. If you want debris hauled away instead, we'll add it to the written quote.
Is there a charge for a quote in Magnolia? Quotes are free within 30 miles of Sealy. Magnolia is beyond that, so the quote or site-visit fee is $125.
Do you remove bees in Magnolia? Yes. Send photos and your address, and we'll tell you whether it's a swarm or an established colony and what it will take to relocate it.
Which appraisal district handles ag valuation for Magnolia land? The Montgomery Central Appraisal District. Confirm its current beekeeping standards before you place hives.
